Huawei Delays the Launch of Its Foldable Phone to September

Foldable phones were supposed to be the future and 2019 was going to be all about them. Samsung’s Galaxy Fold wowed everyone before Huawei unveiled the Mate X and stole the Korean company’s thunder. The Galaxy Fold was on the verge of being launched before Samsung was forced to pull it back due to reliability issues with its design. And now, Huawei is doing something similar.

The company has announced that it now intends to launch the Mate X in September. The phone was supposed to launch in June but that has now been delayed as it is conducting extra tests.

Huawei has taken a more cautious approach with the Mate X after the Galaxy Fold incident and it is now conducting additional tests with mobile carriers and developers around the world to ensure the device and apps work correctly on it.

“We don’t want to launch a product to destroy our reputation,” the spokesperson told CNBC.

Whenever it does launch though, Huawei will first focus on markets where 5G is available as the Mate X has 5G connectivity.

It is unclear if the U.S. ban on Huawei is also at play here for the Mate X delayed launch. The company’s spokesperson that despite the ban, it is “confident” of launching the device to consumers. Plus, it will still run on Android when it launches since it was launched before the U.S. government put Huawei on the Entity list.
Our Take

Nonetheless, the additional months of delay in launching the Mate X on Huawei’s part show that it does not seem to be that confident about its design. Huawei had the opportunity to capitalize on the Galaxy Fold delay by launching the Mate X and get consumers talking about it. The delay has all but squandered that opportunity.

It now remains to be seen if Samsung is able to fix the design reliability issues with the Galaxy Fold ahead of the Mate X launch or not.Sponsor ads:

New York Teen Sues Apple for $1 Billion After Being Falsely Arrested for Store Theft

An 18-year-old New York resident Ousmane Bah has sued Apple for $1 billion. Apple’s in-store facial recognition feature mistakenly linked Bah as one of the thieves behind a series of Apple Store thefts.

He was arrested in November last year in New York and charged for stealing from an Apple Store. The arrest warrant included a photo of the thief which did not match with that of Bah. It is due to this that the 18-year-old is suing Apple. In his complaint, Bah says that “he was forced to respond to multiple false allegations which led to severe stress and hardship.”

Bah says that he lost his non-photo learner’s permit which might have been used by the thief for identification purposes in Apple stores. Apple’s in-store facial recognition system ended up using this data to link Bah’s identity to that of the thief.

Robbery in Apple stores is extremely common and costs Apple millions of dollars every year. The company employs in-store facial recognition inside its retail stores to help track down thieves and suspected culprits in such cases.

Apple has declined to comment on the matter. Given the hardship that Bah has faced due to an error on Apple’s part and the police, he is right to seek compensation from the Cupertino company for the harassment. However, $1 billion is a bit too much and if the case does go into a trial, I expect the damage amount to be reduced significantly by the court.
We Want to Hear From You

Do you think Bah is right in suing Apple for $1 billion for the harassment he had to go through because of a mistake on Apple’s part?

Everything that Apple's iOS 13 will change on your iPhone

The arrival of a dark mode

The first feature is, not surprisingly, a dark mode. This feature is long awaited by fans, and can also be found on Android, Google Chrome, YouTube, and if Google does it Apple wants to do it too. As a result, it will land on iOS 13 and work the same way as on MacOS. It can be activated in the system settings and all applications will also automatically adopt it (at least those that are compatible).

The dark mode is already available on some Android smartphones. / © AndroidPIT
The arrival of fast gestures

The time when you have to shake your tablet to cancel will soon be over: a gesture with three fingers will allow this on your iPad. New gestures will also be possible, allowing several elements to be selected.
The possibility to use an app several times

Apple will (finally) allow you to open the same application several times at once. You can even have different elements of the same application in two windows, which can be useful in certain circumstances. It's a little abstract, the site doesn't give a really clear explanation. In any case, moving the windows would be easy, with a simple drag and drop. Improving multitasking allows Apple to be consistent because if the iPad is supposed to "replace the computer", it must have these kinds of features that give it added value.
The Mail app will finally evolve

This application has not evolved much (or not at all?) in recent years and faced with the advancements that Google is taking (especially thanks to Inbox), Apple must react. We will, therefore, see the arrival of classification of messages by category (promotions, in particular, which will make it possible to clean up properly) as well as a "read later" option.

Gmail has been offering a filter system for a long time. / © ANDROIDPIT
Safari is evolving in favor of the desktop version of sites

You can also configure Safari to automatically open a desktop version of a website instead of having to do it manually. This feature may seem silly at first glance, but sometimes some sites/platforms reduce the options with an interface adapted for mobile. Also Read:Best Alternatives to 123Movies

The volume slider will be moved

It is not yet clear where it will go, but the newspaper is certain that the big volume change window will soon be a thing of the past. It's hard to complain about it, it's always in the middle of the screen, ruining the film for the viewer. Maybe Apple will take inspiration from Android and propose something more discreet, at the top or on the side.
Simplification with font installation

With iOS 13, you can more easily install the font and configure it directly from the Settingsapplication. This doesn't really add much, after all, it's iOS' biggest criticism compared to Android: the lack of customization. You have to start somewhere, so it's a small step for Apple, a big step for.... Well, we don't know for whom, but that's just us.

Other features include

Collaborative system

Application Reminders update

Improved "Hey Siri" function

Improved multilingual appearance in the keyboard and dictation

More print settings in the app of the document you want to print

That's all we know at the moment, we'll keep you informed of any new developments as soon as we know more.

Apple Reportedly Set to Tap Qualcomm for 5G Modems in 2020 iPhones

Qualcomm and Apple had their disagreements, which led to a lengthy legal battle between the two. But, today, it finally culminated in a settlement between the two companies. The dust has barely settled and now there’s a report out saying Qualcomm will be Apple’s go-to choice to supply 5G modems in 2020 iPhones.

According to a report from Nikkei out this afternoon, Apple is already planning on calling up Qualcomm to be the key supplier for 5G modems next year. Apple and Qualcomm were reportedly negotiating today’s settlement “for weeks”, and, part of that was tied to 5G modem availability for Apple. What’s more, Apple has already been testing Qualcomm’s 5G modems, according to the report, and has been asking its suppliers to do the same.

There wasn’t any expectation that Apple would use a 5G modem in the 2019 iPhone lineup, but this report further confirms that will not be the case.

“It is too late for Apple to use Qualcomm’s chips this year, but for 2020 it will purchase modem chips, including 5G modem chips, from the chipmaker for iPhones after finalizing the deal,” a source with direct knowledge of the settlement plan told Nikkei.”

Early reports had been leaning into Intel being Apple’s primary supplier for 5G modems in 2020 iPhones. However, there were recent reports suggesting that Intel wasn’t going to be able to meet Apple’s demand. If that is indeed the case, it certainly could have helped nudge Apple in the direction of a settlement with Qualcomm, seeing as Apple wasn’t likely to rely on Samsung (or Huawei for that matter), for 5G modems next year.
Our Take

This has always felt a little inevitable, even with Apple and Qualcomm going at it in the courts. Apple’s goal of launching an iPhone with 5G on board in 2020 had to be pretty important, as it looks like it played a pretty big role in deciding the legal fate between Apple and Qualcomm today.

How to Fix iCloud Drive Not Syncing On Mac/PC

How to Fix iCloud Drive Not Syncing On Mac/PC

“iCloud drive work perfectly on iOS device (iPhone and iPad). Problem is on my Mac, it won’t sync on Mac. What am I doing wrong or am I attempting to use it in a way it wasn't intended for?”

iCloud drive enables users to save the files of all the devices. If your iCloud drive is not syncing with the Mac, you need to know how to fix these issues. With the iCloud drive syncing thoroughly, it gets easier to retrieve your content on all connected Apple devices. So, here in this article, we are going to offer you the different steps which when used will be able to solve the problem. It is important to have the iCloud sync working properly or else resuming your task on the other device might get terribly hard.

Tip 1. Check network connection on Mac/PC and iPhone

Tip 2. Check iCloud storage

Tip 3. Check Apple ID and iCloud Drive settings

Tip 4. Update Apple software more frequently

Tip 5. Use app specific password

Tip 6. A better backup and restore tool than iCloud
Tip 1. Check network connection on Mac/PC and iPhone

The very first thing which you need to do is check whether the internet connection is running on all devices. Check if the Wi-Fi is working properly. Turn it off, wait for 30 seconds and then turn it on again.

Tip 2. Check iCloud storage

iCloud comes with specific storage plan. If there is no adequate space on your iCloud drive, the sync will not work. So, you need to check your iCloud storage by following these steps.

Head to ‘Settings’ and then on ‘Your name’. Now, move to ‘iCloud’ and then to ‘iCloud storage’. Now, tap on ‘Manage storage’ and see the free memory or free up more space.

Tip 3. Check Apple ID and iCloud Drive settings

It is important to check that on all your Apple devices you are signed using the same Apple ID. So, check these settings carefully.

On your phone which is running on iOS 11, head to ‘Settings’ and then to ‘Your name’. Now, tap on ‘iCloud’ and then scroll down and turn iCloud drive on.

On your windows PC, you need to open the desktop app and then move to iCloud. Now, check the iCloud settings and even your apple ID. Always check the box next to iCloud drive to turn it on.

On your Mac, you need to go to Apple menu and then move to System preferences. Now, tap on iCloud and then select iCloud drive.
Tip 4. Update Apple software more frequentlySponsor ads:Windows 10 Go Back to An Earlier Build Missing after 10 Days

Apple rolls out new software updates from time to time. This is mainly done to fix the little bugs that may pop up from time to time. So, you need to check the ‘Settings’ to ensure that Apple software updates are checked daily and installed. Follow these steps.

Head to Apple software updates and then tap on ‘Edit’. Now select ‘Preferences’ and then change the updates from weekly to daily.

Tip 5. Use app specific password

Apple itself recommends that rather than using your Apple password for all app logins, you should have app specific password. By having a specific app password, you can use it to sync the content without any issue. Always use a two step authentication process.

Tip 6. A better backup and restore tool than iCloud

If all of the above steps still fail to have the right impact, you need to get hold of a professional tool that is known to be one of the best software which offers better backup and restore facility as compared to the iCloud.
